Finally I can share my latest project!! My sister received her "love" from Florida in the mail today.  I had been waiting to share this card on my blog until after I sent it so it would not ruin the surprise.  I purchased this adorable Sweet Pea Paper from Joann's during a shopping adventure with my "Gator Chica" who came down from Gainesville a few weeks ago.  Well after getting the word that I am getting a new niece I went to work creating this card WITHOUT the help of the New Arrival Cartridge.  I created this pea pod with shapes from George, Gypsy Wanderings, and Home Accents.  The new Gypsy Hide contour capability was a big help too!  I will post more on how I did this later. For now I am off to the Airport!

"Wild" Wordbook (my first one)

My daughter's 3rd grade class recently went on a field trip to Disney's Animal Kingdom.  Due to the small size of her class we only had one other child with us and I was able to photograph the girls throughout the park.  Well wouldn't you know my NEW GYPSY (yayyy) came the night before the field trip and an invitation to the other girls birthday party came right after we returned.  The story gets even better here...when I got home from my day of chaperoning  I found that my gadget guru husband had loaded my cartridges, registered my Gypsy, dressed her in her Cherry Blossom "duds" and she was ready to party. Well I guessed my way through learning the ol' girl and this is our first project.  This is also my very first word book.  I plan on tweaking the paper colors a bit and making a second one for my daughter.  This little beauty will be wrapped and ready for the birthday girl tomorrow.

Hello Pumpkin...Monogram Porch Pumpkin

Looking ahead to fall here is a simple Cricut project to grace your front Steps.

While out last fall I saw some rather expensive faux pumpkins adorned with cute sayings and clever designs such as pineapples (the symbol of hospitality in case you are wondering).  Shortly after seeing these decorative beauties I was making my "weekly wander" through our local Joanns and I spotted this interesting product...

Post-it Craft paper with the strategically placed Cricut head in the bottom corner. Obviously my Cricut needed to try this. So armed with my Joann's coupon the already on sale pumpkin I headed home in the mood to craft a "designer porch pumpkin" of my own.

This pumpkin was created using my Cricut Personal, Cricut Storybook Cartridge, Design Studio, Post it Adhesive Craft Paper and Modge Podge.  I used 3 layers of Modge Podge allowing it to dry between coats.
I also used a craft knife at strategic places in the border design to make small cuts that help it lay flat around the pumpkin.

Why this works, the adhesive is strong enough to hold the design in place while you decoupage over and its paper qualities absorb the Modge Podge and flex to mold around the contours of the pumpkin.

Vinyl would not absorb the decoupage and become flexible enough for this project.

Difficulty: 2 out of 5
Time to complete 2 - 3 hours (1/2 hour assembly the remainder being 5 minutes at a time to decoupage and drying time between)

Cupcake Crazy

Cupcakes are King! In honor of my oldest daughter's birthday I created these sweet sensations to invite her girlfriends to a "Decorate your Own Cupcake" party.  The sweet treat inside was a huge hit and one mom even commented "Your invites were so cute and I am sure they were even cuter with the M&M's still in them" Apparently her girls made quick work of the sliding door on these invites and gobbled up the treat before their car made it out of the school parking lot.  The inspiration for this card came from Little Miss Crafter and you can visit her blog and check out her bumble bee card using Wilton Candy molds here

http://littlemisscrafter.blogspot.com/2010/02/wilton-candy-mold-card-tutorial.html

For this project I used:

Cricut Design Studio (for exact placement of my heart cut out)
My Cricut Expression
Doodlecharms Cartridge
Cuttlebug and Cuttlebug Swirls Folder
Wilton Heart Shaped Candy Molds
Coordinations Cardstock for the card base
DCWV Sweet Stack for the outer card
Misc ribbon from the $1 bin at Michaels
$1 bin Glitter glue from studio G
Terrifically Tacky Tape
Mini M&M's from the Post Easter Clearance (DD birthday was April 18th)
